John's Bunkhouse Berneray is a modern comfortable hostel which opened in 2018.
Built in the Hebridean ‘blackhouse' style, it combines the charm of a traditional building with the comfort of a purpose-built, low energy bunkhouse. Situated by a beautiful tidal beach it is close to the ferry to Harris, the local shop/ bistro and the causeway to North Uist. It's a grest jumping off spot for exploring the Uists and Harris. Walkers and cyclists following the Hebridean Way will find it an idea place to break their journey.
The bunkhouse is suitable for individuals, families and groups of up to 8 people. Facilities include a drying room, bike shed and good disability access and internet access.
Covid 19: We are opening on 1st September. However, because of the restrictions imposed by Covid 19 we can only accommodate one party of guests at a time.
We therefore welcome bookings from friendship/family groups of two to eight people for a minimum stay of two nights. Sole use, weekly bookings are available over Autumn and Winter at reduced rates. We regret that we cannot accommodate our usual range of guests but hope we can get back to that soon.
