About Us

John's Bunkhouse

John's Bunkhouse Berneray is a modern comfortable hostel which opened in 2018.

Modern facilities in a traditional setting

Built in the Hebridean ‘blackhouse' style, it combines the charm of a traditional building with the comfort of a purpose-built, low energy bunkhouse. Situated by a beautiful tidal beach it is close to the ferry to Harris, the local shop/ bistro and the causeway to North Uist. It is an ideal stopping-off point for walkers and cyclists following the Hebridean Way and kayakers who can pull up on the shore just metres away.

The bunkhouse is  suitable for individuals, families and groups of up to 8 people.  Facilities include  a drying room, bike shed and good disability access and internet access.

Coronavirus:  Because of Coronavirus, John's Bunkhouse will be closed for the months of April, May and June and we will review the situation at the end of June.  For people who have booked for this period our policy is to refund everyone or people can transfer their booking to a later date, We are doing this in the best interests of our customers and our community. If you want to get in touch with us about a booking do not hesitate
